Dr. Sheila M. Amar is a board-certified specialist in adult and pediatric allergy and asthma, certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis and earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After completing her Internal Medicine residency at Baylor, she advanced her training with a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the prestigious National Jewish Health/University of Colorado Denver program.

She grew up in Waco, Texas, where her father, Dr. N.J. Amar, is a well-known allergist. Since 2010, she has been serving the Central Texas community at the Allergy & Asthma Center of Georgetown. Dr. Amar is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (FAAAAI) and the American College of Allergy & Immunology (FACAAI). She also contributes as a Weather Channel advisor and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Texas A&M Health Science Center. Dr. Amar is a certified pollen counter with the National Allergy Bureau (NAB), part of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology's Aeroallergen Network. The Allergy & Asthma Center of Georgetown is the sole certified pollen counting station in the Austin, Round Rock, and Georgetown areas.

Recognized for her exceptional expertise and commitment to patient care, Dr. Amar has been named Top Doctors in Austin Monthly in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. She has been named by her peers as Super Doctors® Rising Star℠ in 2012, 2013, 2014 and Super Doctors® in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 published in Texas Monthly.

In 2024, Dr. Sheila M. Amar was selected as a Hall of Fame nominee , a distinction awarded to an exclusive group of physicians. This honor highlights her remarkable accomplishment of being recognized as Super Doctors ® for 10 consecutive years.

Dr. Kim Hovanky, a board-certified allergist specializing in adult and pediatric allergy, founded the clinic in March 1998 with a commitment to delivering exceptional care.

A proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Hovanky earned her medical degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and Amarillo. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Texas A&M University/Scott & White Hospital and Clinic in Temple, followed by a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Hovanky’s dedication and expertise have been recognized throughout her career. She was named by her peers as Super Doctors®, featured in Texas Monthly, in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013. For over 16 years, she served Georgetown and the surrounding areas with unwavering dedication until 2014.
